Worth a thought?

Yes, but to be used with caution, especially with computers. Consider an example:

"The Reply function of WonderMail sends responses to received mail to the sender."

This could easily be understood to mean that WonderMail somehow replies to mail all by itself. In cases like this, it seems safer to write something like:

"Using WonderMail‘s Reply function, you can..." or
"To reply to received mail, use..."

In other cases, there may be no such danger of confusion.
