A second thought on this topic: If you're trying to say what some function
_lets_ you do, try looking for an active verb that expresses the concept.
For example:

Wrong: The fubar function lets you foul things up beyond all possibility of
recovery.
Right: The fubar function fouls things up beyond all possibility of
recovery.

Worth a thought?

Vah! Denuone Latine loquebar? Me ineptum. Interdum modo elabitur. (Oh! Was I
speaking Latin again? Silly me. Sometimes it just sort of slips
out.)--Anonymous
