After telling people that I am a technical writer, they almost invariably
ask for more details. After happily filling in the details, I almost
always see a light of understanding come to their face. Then I hear:

"So, you are the one that writes those big manuals that no one ever
reads?"

To which I reply, "No, not me, my co-worker!" :)
