Hi,

First, a comment on the term "web application". It's defined as (thank
you, Atomica):

"Software based on the Web. This can refer to almost anything Web
related, including a Web browser or other client software that can
access the Web. It can refer to software that runs on Web sites or
software that is stored on Web sites and downloaded to the user. See
Web-based application."

A Web app doesn't necessarily have to be anything as robust as
order-tracking or account-management. For example, one of the products I
work for can generate front-end clients to Web services. One of these
clients is a series of JSP pages that we refer to as a Web application.
For example, this Web app
(http://live.capescience.com/GlobalWeather/index.html) displays the
current weather from any airport or weather station around the world.
Obviously it's not as sophisticated as Amazon.com, but I think it still
qualifies.

As for examples, I've got a small and mediocre example at
http://www.darrenbarefoot.com/ptwebhelp/UsingPT.htm. Thanks. DB.

http://www.amazon.com is pretty good.

Hi there,
Can you recommend a great example of help for a web application? Not
just a web site with information on it, but an actual application you
run via the web, e.g. tracking your orders with a catalog company or
checking your account. We're about to define such an animal, but have no
previous experience. Things to avoid or must-do would be very helpful.
TIA

Erika
