TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Well, yes, it is linear. But when all is said and done if you've setup your navigation routines properly you'll be able to jump around the presentation in whichever order you want.
Whichever tool you use the information is going to have to be layed out in some kind of order to start with. The benefit I see to Authorware is that it can keep track of where you've been and suggest (based on logic you define ahead of time) where to go next. No matter how the presenter chooses to go through the material they'll be going down one of some finite number of linear paths. We just want to give them as many paths to choose from as possible.
