Subject: Re: "Grammar Stinks."
It's already happening. I just read an article in the NYTimes that
English teachers are encountering a lot of "Internet Shorthand" in
their students' papers.

About a year to 18 months ago, I happen to mention in a thread that I was
concerned that all the Instant Messenger dialog was going to filter down to
poor writing habits. I based this on looking at a dialog between my
girlfriend's 15 year old daughter and her friends.
I was told that I shouldn't worry, that they knew the difference and that it
wouldn't have an impact.
How can it not, when you spend all day typing. "how r u? I m fine. R u going
2 the dance 2nite?
