1) Talk to your boss. This has to be done. Whining or keeping it bottled
up won't help.
2) Suggest solutions, more compensation, more staff, better ways to
manage projects (LOL!).
3) Always have a plan B, whether it's a job hunt on the side or
whatever. Cos, remember, you gotta look out for yourself, nobody else
will.
As for how you talk to your boss, I dunno. I went out to lunch with
mine. Your approach might be different.
What do you do if your boss declines to help you out? Dunno for sure.
Trying to get this back on topic, I do believe the
question was, ASSUMING THE EXTRA HOURS ARE ABUSIVE
(sorry for shouting), what do you do? Do you have a
heart-to-heart with the boss showing him/her pictures
of your lonely family? Do you bring out the contract
and a spreadsheet with lots of numbers and logic? How
do you approach the boss without insulting his/her
lack of planning or rubbing in his/her face the fact
that s/he's powerless to add more personnel?
