In Acrobat (Reader?) Use Edit > Preferences > General, and turn on
Smooth Line Art. That might make it a little better.

And, consider Acrobat is incapable of displaying line thicknesses
correctly or consistently to screen. ;?(

And, I like the pool idea!!

The Word document contains several hyperlinks which display as
blue, 14-point, true type Arial with underlining. When I distill
the doc and display the result to screen, the thickness of the
underlines is not consistent. Some are nice and thin as in the
original. Others are so thick that the top edge of the underline
impinges on the bottoms of the letters. It looks lousy.

The print of the PDF looks fine.
