Hi Techwhirlers --

I'm trying to convert a Word 97 doc to PDF using Acrobat 5.0.5.
At the moment, throwing the whole business into a large,
stagnant, scum-filled pool and watching it bubble down into the
muck seems like a satisfying solution. However, I have a
sneaking suspicion that I'd regret it later, so I'm writing you
folks instead.

The Word document contains several hyperlinks which display as
blue, 14-point, true type Arial with underlining. When I distill
the doc and display the result to screen, the thickness of the
underlines is not consistent. Some are nice and thin as in the
original. Others are so thick that the top edge of the underline
impinges on the bottoms of the letters. It looks lousy.

The print of the PDF looks fine.

I've tried both print and ebook joboptions files with no effect.
Distiller is set to embed all fonts and to subset embedded fonts
when percent of characters is less than 100%.

I'm plumb out of ideas. Suggestions?

-- Meg
