I have to agree with John Posada's assessment. It seems that your heartburn arises from "losing" the argument with the VP. The rest sounds like rationalization.

I would suggest that you dust off the resume and find a new work place that is more compatible with your life view.

Two seemingly applicable cliches come to mind:
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
He who has the gold makes the rules.
