Video is a pain for most companies...especialy from the standpoint of
quality. The bandwidth needed for real-time video is enormous! The
only company I was at where it was fully used was with Western Union
and even with their satelite linkage, it was used maybe only 2-3
times a month.
At Avaya, if video is really important, like a rollout for a new
initiative, or a Q/A town meeting, each main facility has a TV-like
studio.
Steve is right, though...we are a big company. OTOH, the value of
virtual teams is not AS strong for small/medium companies. It is
still useful, but it isn't a cheap process if you don't want it to
get in the way of getting something done.
