Not much use short-term but may be useful long term. Some time ago now I
did some research for a course I was doing to find out attitudes to
TWing etc. Checked local (apply your own definition of local) companies
in the relevant directories (mix of hardware/software) and sent each a
survey. Mix of questions - who currently produced their docs
(TW/engineer/marketing etc), what tools did they use, how important did
they rate the documentation, why wasn't it done by TWer, did they know
how to find a suitably qualified writer etc and, finally, did they think
it could be improved by having it done 'professionally'. I was pleased
to see that most rated the documentation quite highly but that most
didn't use TWer but thought the documentation could be improved. I
circulated the results of the survey to those that requested it (tick
box on the survey) and later followed up with those that thought the
documentation could be improved - quite successfully.
