You're correct.

It wasn't about sticking it to anyone, or rubbing anyone's nose in it. As a matter of fact, it was a non-writer who wrote it. He's never going to hear from me about how awful his writing was (after all, if his writing *were* any good, there would be less necessity for me!). I wanted the revision marking to show some of our newer writers what they might be up against sometimes when they need to edit some of this stuff.

I already told all of the above to Peter in an offline e-mail. Thanks for coming to my defense.

it sounds like a good way to show Before and After versions of a document
in a portfolio. how else do you illustrate what a great editor you are if
you can't show how awful the document was before you worked your magic on
it?
