1. Did you ever go an TALK with the engineers and attempt to fill in the
holes in the specs?
2. Did you do any external research in an attempt to plug those holes?
3. Did you get it in writing from your manager that those holes were
acceptable?
If you rely on others to give you the information you need to do your job,
you will consistently have problems like this. You have to go get the
information for yourself. You also have to manage the information given to
you and independently assess its value, completeness, and accuracy. Again,
you just can't rely on other people to have your best interests in mind.
Its also obvious your manager turned on you, but without knowing the
specifics and only seeing your side of the story, I am hesitant to
criticize the managers behavior in depth.
