TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I worked for a guy like that once. I'm still working. He isn't.
It's true that what goes around comes around, but sometimes the wheel needs a kick start. I'd go directly to your company's HR director, ombudsman, or whoever the right person is (maybe the boss's boss's boss?), and calmly and professionally give your side of the story. Put it in writing, with a copy to your personnel file. Request an investigation. If you have coworkers who can back you up and are willing to do so, offer their names as witnesses. If you are invited to a facilitated meeting with your manager, find out exactly who will be in the room. If you get to the meeting and additional people are present, request that those people leave or that the meeting be rescheduled. In the latter case, come with your attorney.
