RE: Hiring an entry-level writer

Martin Smith is planning to hire an entry level techwriter and wants advice
for a non-tools ad.

I once advertised to hire an entry or junior techwriter. Note that someone
who is entry at tech-writing may have relevant education and/or relevant
experience from another field. For example, that person may have experience
as a journalist. Also, some people who are switching over to technical
writing about software or hardware may have experience writing technical
reports in finance or other areas.

I don't remember any more how I handled the non-tools part, but I do
remember that for tools I kept things general, I think I just required
people to be familiar with Windows applications and gave specific examples
of some of the tools that person would use.
