Not necessarily. If the two can't coordinate their efforts, the
result could be worse than having a generalist do everything. But,
still, you're generally right.

Unfortunately, you're talking about an ideal situation. I have no
doubt whatsoever that a professional graphic designer can do a
better product sheet than I can, or that a professional usability
tester can run a better beta program than I can. However, often I'm
the person on the spot, and I can do the job well enough to get by.

The fact that I enjoy variety and learning new skills is a bonus,
but, the fact is, few companies have the time, money, nor
inclination to hire specialists for every task. The more skills you
are competent in, the more employable you are in this field. Right
or wrong, it's really as simple as that.
