It saddens me to see this taken so lightly. Perhaps
it's because I work for an Internet company, or
perhaps because this tragedy happened less than 50
miles from my childhood home.

Perhaps you should have read the following before
making light of the shooting:

Now, I'm usually one to find humor in just about
anything (and those who know me can verify this), but
this shooting was indeed a horrible event. I think we
should at least let some mourning time pass before
letting the humor fly.
