I use both. Zip is quick, fairly reliable, rewriteable, and good for
transferring small to medium files. They're not good for permanent storage,
but are small, and pocketable.

I use CDs for more permanent archiving (noting that they are not permanent)
and transferring larger files. Writing a CD is slower, and more prone to
errors (for best/fastest results you need to set aside an area, or
preferably a separate partition, you can use for smoothly dumping to disk).

I tend to receive more CDs that Zips. I've had more compatibility problems
with PCs and Zips than with Macs and either media.
