Dear Atticus:

Teach if you have the time and inclination. By covering up for someone, you are ensuring that they remain as they are. Avoid using another person's ineptitude to leverage your own position. You can help, and the universe will owe you a favor.

Hiring a new writer may not improve the situation. You may end up with a conceited doofus, or someone who is more qualified/proficient that you are, and then you may be the weak link in the department. Remember, no matter how good you are, you are not the BEST.

All the best. Hope you will emerge from this situation a better tech writer and PERSON.

Have a great day.

eddy
