> the users would all know what the common name is, the common name for a
matl-- the PDF is the powder diffraction file, it is a file that contains
the powder diffraction patterns for materials: an entry. all the users
would know this, and if they didn't i have defined them in a glossary.
if they got to this help page, they wouldn't need those definitions. the
use of local operators is optional after the first pass-- that is what i
am trying to describe. the jargon that i am having trouble with is more
search criteria, local operators (since they change from form to form-- no
consistency), search, retrieval, input textbox, etc..... and the first
time thru, they can input a partial common name-- ga would retrieve both
galena and realgar. so then i wrestle with writing something like "input
the character string in the input textbox' (which is of course not labeled
on the search form as such) and to me it sounds about as clear as mud.
