<gyaker -at- csc -dot- com> wants to know (quote) So I am foolish to count the use of
this pair of tools at a company as a big X against considering employment with a
firm? <snip> ...but isn't it frustrating to know there are better applications
to get our work done? (/quote)

PLEASE let's answer his/her question and NOT start a tool/product holy war!

My answer:

Yes, <gyaker -at- csc -dot- com> , you are foolish to dismiss opportunities at a company
based solely on the fact that their preferred suite is RoboHelp and MS Word.

And yes, it IS frustrating to know that there are better tools that would allow
one to work more efficiently and elegantly. Now, go get yourself hired at one of
these fine (albeit uneducated) companies, work your way into a position of
respect and earn the right to make suggestions. It will take longer in some
companies than others.

I recommend using a formula of communication with your employer and peers that
contains twice as much honey to vinegar. It's not good to eat MS chips for lunch
every day.

Enjoy the afternoon,
