1. Highlight the text.
2. Press Alt-o
3. Press b
4. Press x
5. Press ENTER.

or, to present it another way:
1. Highlight the text.
2. Click Format>Borders & Shading>Box and then press ENTER.

If you want to put a box around an entire paragraph:
1. Place the cursor anywhere in the paragraph (but with nothing highlighted.)
2. Click Format>Borders & Shading>Box and then press ENTER.
