Subject:1st Job posting: Richmond, VA From:melissa -dot- lowery -at- CAPITALONE -dot- COM Date:Tue, 3 Aug 1999 15:33:35 -0500
I am reposting a job opening for another team at Capital One since the previous
version suffered from formatting problems. I will be happy to answer any
questions about the open positions, Richmond, or Capital One.
The position requires a writer who can create a TECHNICAL documentation set for
Capital One's primary customer service GUI. The GUI development team does NOT
need end user documentation or training documentation (the customer service area
has a huge staff of writers for both of those functions). They do need someone
who knows how to document the controls and associated code for a GUI created in
C++. This team has never had a technical writer, so they need someone who can
assess their information needs and fill them with little guidance from the
developers or managers. The writer will join a growing community of tech writers
within the IT organization at Capital One.
Any questions can be directed to me via phone or e-mail. Resumes and cover
letters should be directed to the recruiting contact at the end of each posting.
A software development team within the Information Technology Department of
Capital One Financial Services has an immediate openings for an experienced
technical writer in Richmond, Virginia. This is a great opportunity to join a
fast-growing company that ranked in the top half of Fortune magazine's second
annual list of "100 Best Companies to Work for in America." Computer World
recently named Capital One 13th on their 1999 list of "100 Best Places to Work
in IT." Capital One's innovative use of information technology fuels its
worldwide expansion and its diversification of services.
Among the factors that differentiate Capital One from other employers are
outstanding benefits such as performance-based salary and bonus packages,
generous company 401(k) plan contributions, an employee stock purchase plan,
three weeks of paid vacation during the first year of employment, excellent
medical and dental coverage, educational assistance, help locating and paying
for child and elder care, and a wide range of company-sponsored fun activities
and community service opportunities.
Join the software development team that builds Capital One's primary customer
service application. As part of this team, the technical writer will develop a
technical documentation set from scratch describing the graphical user
interface's infrastructure for an audience of technical analysts, developers,
and systems support staff. The technical writer will publish technical
documentation online for every phase of the system development life cycle.
