Philip Hirschi Writes: "BTW, I was unable to find any advice about avoiding the term "navigate" in favor of "explore" in the winhelp version of the Microsoft Manual of Style, whose accompanying readme is dated October 1995. Has anyone actually seen the cited entry?"

The Second Edition (page 185) has the following:
"Avoid the verb navigate to refer to moving from site to site, page to page within a site, or link to link . . . Instead, use explore to mean looking for sites or pages generally, move to or move through to refer to sequentially moving from one link or site to another . . ."

I Hope this helps.

Also, a personal comment on the "Microsoft Manual of Style for technical Publications". When I first looked at this book early last year I was not impressed with the book. However, since it has been revised in mid 1998 (2nd Edition) I feel that it is a good source of information, especially since I work for a company that makes products that work within the Microsoft environment - it's a good reference tool.
