As far as I know, Win 98 is actually MORE stable than Win 95 (believe it or
not). The real issue, though, is whether it's worth the upgrade. Win 98 is
bigger and fatter than Win 95, but for home use has some cool new bells and
whistles. I like the new multimedia enhancements and also the Windows
Upgrade (web upgrade) feature is pretty useful. However, I'm the kind of
person who just loves to upgrade to the "latest and greatest" when it comes
to personal and home use software/hardware. I still use Win 95 at work (as
does everyone else in my office) because Win 98 didn't offer anything that
would increase our productivity or increase the stability of the OS. Of
course, our versions of Win 95 are either all SR-2 or have all the latest
service packs/updates etc. to make it as stable as it can be. (Service
packs/updates are free!) If you have IE 4, though, definitely upgrade to IE
5. IE 5 is excellent. That's worth it.
