The one graphic format that Microsoft applications all understand
well is .wmf (windows metafile). Just your luck, .wmf is a vector
format, so it makes the graphics completely scalable.

On the PowerPoint side, Save As .wmf
On the Word side, Insert > Picture > From File

then go home and have a relaxing weekend!
