As usual, I'd say it's down to who you're writing for. We tend to use
quite a lot in our lit as we have a very wide audience base - from PC
professionals to those who aren't sure what a mouse is. In this case it's
definitely reassuring to see that what's in the manual matches the screen.
In other cases (more specialised audience) I've taken the minimalist
approach - a few screenshot as guides.
