You'll see "=20" at the end of a line in an email message if:
* the message was MIME encoded using the encoding called
"quoted-printable"
* the message contains a blank at the end of a line (this blank
is what is turned into "=20")
And either the message does not contain a header that contains
Content-transfer-encoding: quoted-printable
or your mail client does not understand MIME headers, or both.
If we were all using mailers that understood how to send and
receive MIME messages, we'd never see "=20" at the end of a line.
