I already do live in the Midwest, and I can tell you from personal experience
that the market for technical writers is good here in Kansas City. I just got
done looking for a job in September/October (found this one :-) and I got
about 75 calls from recruiters, and had interviews every day for 2 weeks. I
could pick and choose which job I took--and I'm a senior tech writer with
outrageous salary demands. :-) There is a lot of development going on here,
and not enough technical people to fill the positions, and an increasing
demand for writers and QA people.
