If boredom is the problem, jumping job to job won't solve it.  At least not for some of us.  I get tired of routine and absolutely despise the notion that showing up at a work place for 8 hours a day equates to work.  Contracting can be an extremely good long-term solution if you can learn new applications quickly and if you like to get deeply involved with a wide range of products and people.
 
It's also the best solution if you're at all interested in telecommuting.
