I recently received a cover letter and resume from an employment
seeker.  There were several typos and grammatical errors in the cover
letter.  The hiring manager immediately rejected the applicant without
reviewing the resume because of the quality of the cover letter. (and
may think a little less of me because I didn't proof-read it before
submitting it)...

So reviewing all material you submit to an employer is *very* important.

Personally, I profited by having an employment consultant, as well as
the local STC, review my resume.  The employment consultant charged
$70/hr, and it was the best money I ever spent.  The STC review was
free, and also very useful.

And use that spell-checker!
