I dont' really know whether the writer intended a "between the lines"
interpretation, but I have heard that companies can get sued for any
comments OTHER than comments regarding the employee's attendance.

It might be possible for a prospective employer to ask for some
statistics about the person's attendance. Even then, scheduled
absences might not be grouped with sick leave or tardiness.

It's probably best to ask someone in Human Resources if you
think it's important.
