Recently I posted a job for an entry-level documentation specialist (about
to be filled). Since then, I have accepted a job offer that was too good to
refuse, which means my senior technical writer/editor position is now
available. If you'd like to learn more about the job while I'm still here,
you may email me at priester -at- xtised -dot- com until July 14. If you'd like to
apply, please email/mail your resume to the address at the end of this
message, not to me.

Regards,
Lisa Priester

----------------------------
Company: XonTech, Inc.
Position: Senior Technical Writer/Editor
Location: Los Angeles, near LAX
Annual salary starts at upper 40K to mid 50K
Starts: Immediately
-----------------------------
XonTech is a fast-growing, nationally recognized aerospace R&D firm seeking
a Senior Technical Writer/Editor. You will lead documentation efforts
related to the development of simulation systems, radar software upgrades,
radar hardware upgrades, and data analysis in support of national missile
defense. Upcoming projects require engineering documentation, end-user
documentation, training programs, briefings, reports, proposals, and
intranet content.

Although you will report to the operations manager of our systems
engineering division, you will interact directly with technical program
managers. You will be responsible for all aspects of the documentation,
from management to desktop publishing and coordination. An entry-level
documentation specialist, whom you will be encouraged to mentor, will
assist you, as will technical illustrators. You will manage documentation
projects, including estimating and scheduling resources, writing or
maintaining project style guides, creating templates, maintaining
electronic files, and status reporting. You will also research, organize,
write, illustrate, edit, and desktop-publish documents. You'll work closely
with SMEs: engineers, analysts, and programmers. Many of them will write
the source material for documents, because of the highly technical nature
of our work. An important aspect of the job is acting as a user advocate
and ensuring that information projects are suitable for the target
audience.

The ideal candidate has:
- A degree in technical communication or a related field
- Four or more years of related experience
- Ability to transform complex, unstructured data into meaningful
information
- Experience in leading documentation projects
- The ability to organize, set priorities, and coordinate the efforts of
SMEs, documentation specialists, and illustrators
- Familiarity with radar systems, systems engineering concepts, and
documentation to military, ANSI, or IEEE standards.
- Experience with Windows 95/NT (required) Unix (desired), and popular
tools such as Word, FrameMaker, Visio, PowerPoint, CorelDraw, and MS
Project
- Flexibility-although our small-company environment creates the
opportunity to work on a variety of projects, it also means that we all
must be a "jack of all trades" from time to time

You'll enjoy flexible work hours, a casual dress code, and an excellent
benefits package, including profit sharing and 401(k) plans. U.S.
citizenship is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a
government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements
for access to classified information.

Qualified candidates are invited to submit a cover letter and resume:
