TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
And what's even more cool is that you can have the 'computer experts'
send your file (.pdf or postscript) directly to a DocuTech copier -
which is essentially a really fast 600 dpi laser printer. In doing
so, your 'copies' are actually laser prints, yet not nearly as
expensive. This solves the problem of lousy looking copied graphics
(see the aforementioned 24 hour shop for details) and brings up the
concept of 'printing on demand', which is a possible compromise to
doing away entirely with printed manuals.

Another alternative that has been working fabulously for us is to send
the printer an Acrobat (PDF) file. Give it a shot with a test job
first. We've been extremely satisfied with the results, and the
printer loves it because they don't have to worry about fonts, printer
drivers, yada-yada-yada.
