Here's a thought for those of you who have had problems volunteering your
technical communication services:

How about volunteering your professional services to a professional
communication organization? STC, IEEE PCS, SIGDOC, and dozens of other
professional societies throughout the world are constantly in need of
volunteers to help with newsletters, brochures, Web pages, conference
publications, etc.

I'm active in two of these organizations and work closely with a number of
others, and I know that all of them need volunteer talent.

If you've had a bad experience with one, try another.
