You forgot problem number five: you agreed to follow the design they
wanted. Whether or not it turned out to be the best design, you're still
putting yourself in a bad position.

If the agreed-on design creates problems that weren't obvious until this
point, you might be able to point out those problems and show how they
are solved by your proposed design. Or you could present it to them as
example of what you'd like to do *next* time.
