The processes embodied in ISO 9000 have been around longer than the ISO
standard. ASME was one of the contributors to the standard. ASME
standards were being followed by machine tool companies a long time
before ISO. But, I'll admit that one of my clients did everything they
could to do things their way even if it subverted the standards.
