Subject:Re: PS to PDF: How long to Distill? From:Scott Browne <sbrowne -at- UNICOMP -dot- NET> Date:Fri, 5 Jun 1998 12:43:13 -0600
I'm running a Pentium 233 with 128 Mb RAM, using the HP LaserJet 5Si/Si
MX PS printer driver, under Windows NT, using Distiller 3.02 (3.01 has
bugs under NT just so's you knows).
I have a FrameMaker (5.5) book made up of about 25 individual chapter
files. There's a total of about 2 dozen screen shots and other
graphics, and a total of 350 pages in the book. It takes me about 5
mins (I just timed it) to turn the whole thing into a PDF - 2.5 mins to
print a PS file and 2.5 mins to run it through Distiller. The whole
shebang is just under 1 Mb.
FWIW, YMMV
