Most of the responses to this thread have focused on the merits of
HTML as a document delivery medium. I think that misses the point.

HTML is a fine medium for deploying hypertext documents. It does
not, however, provide good facilities for structuring the underlying
information and making it easy to search and easy to reuse in other
documents.

Another way to express the warning "don't use HTML for storage" is
"don't input HTML, output it." If you need a web page, create it
on the fly from an appropriate information structure -- database,
SGML document, or the like. ...RM
