The Australian Society for Technical Communication (NSW) is comparable to the STC in its aims, but it's a heck of a lot smaller and it's confined to one state of Australia. Every year, the ASTC (NSW) holds a two-day conference attended by upwards of 100 technical communicators, mostly from the Sydney area. In this case, small is beautiful. Papers, presentations, and workshops are delivered by practising writers and designers, consultants, and academics.

Conference '97 was on the theme of 'Challenge in Diversity', and the complete proceedings are now available on CD-ROM. Added value comes in the form of software give-aways from Adobe and others.

The price is $A23 (inc p&p) -- to Australian addresses -- for people who attended the conference. For people who didn't attend, the price is $A33 (inc p&p) to Australian addresses, $A36.75 elsewhere. That "elsewhere" price is about $US24 -- great value!

To order, send your payment (in Australian currency) to the following address:

Conference '97 CD
ASTC (NSW)
PO Box R812
Royal Exchange
Sydney, NSW, 1225
Australia

You can pay by cheque or money order made payable to ASTC (NSW) Inc. Alternatively you can pay by MasterCard or Visa: for this we need your card number, cardholder's name as shown on the card, expiry date, and signature.

Be specific about whether you attended Conference '97, and make sure you give a clear and complete return address. Please allow a few weeks for delivery.
