Andrew...

Maybe I'm wrong.

However, please don't confuse your organization, or at least try to convince us, that which in all likelihood is a marketing and leads-gathering mechanism for your agency with an organization to considered an industry association.

If there is no relationship between the two, you certainly have not done much to make that clear. On the otherhand, maybe you don't know what STC really is, and therefore are comparing yours with them erroneously.

Nice try, though.

My opinions are mine, and neither you nor my company can take credit for them.

HEY! Are you coming to the NJ TechWriter lunch? So far, about 10
of us are. Ask me about it.

This STC discussion is almost perfectly timed for this message.

There is a new technical communication organization about to come online --
Its called the Network of Independent Technical Communicators (NITC). The
NITC is an organization devoted to helping technical communication
contractors, consultants, and small business owners network with other
professionals and potential clients.

The NITC currently provides an on-line database of members for anyone to
search. Recruiters and project managers can use this database to locate
independent contractors for possible employment. Contractors can use the
database to locate other professionals in their area for referrals,
business/technical advice, or just friendly conversation.

The NITC database is fully searchable from a web browser. The database
lists the skills and contact information about all types of independent
technical communicators.

The NITC is open to anyone in the technical communications field who is
seeking or currently working as a contractor, consultant, or owns a small
technical publications company.

Most important, the NITC is FREE. Yes, that is correct -- THERE ARE
ABSOLUTELY NO DUES. All we ask is that if you get a job through an NITC
contact, you send us some kind of donation.

The NITC site is still undergoing some final testing and editing. However,
if you are interested in becoming a member, jump on-line and look at the
membership criteria. You can join via e-mail at this time (soon we will
have an on-line membership form).

THE WEB ADDRESS IS: www.anitian.com/network

Take a look at the site. The database is empty right now, but should fill
up soon. Comments, suggestions, and edits are always welcome.

The NITC is being hosted by Anitian Technology Services. For more
information about Anitian Technology Services, visit their web site at
www.anitian.com.
