Rare, certainly.
I found a form of karmic effect wherein, having worked (successfully) to
market myself for off-site work, suddenly an agency that had only called me
for on-site work called me for two off-site jobs at once. No logical
connection, but I seemed to have placed myself in an 'off-site' space somehow.
Less magically, what happens sometimes is that you'll start on-site through an
agency, build up a trusting relationship with the client, and end up doing
most work off-site (my 'office' for a long time was the Metropolitan Museum of
Art - especially the sun-lit roof garden.)
