When applying for staff positions I *never* tell HR what I am currently
making. In my mind, it is unrelated to my value at another company. In
some cases, I have taken jobs that paid less than I should have made,
and in others, my last position paid more that the one I've applied to
could afford. Ultimately, when I am interested in working for a company,
it is my value to them -and them only- that matters.

I have lost interviews this way, but in the long run, I have gotten a
lot farther this way.
