2) Is there a standard for getting hypermedia on intranets?

Intranets are a special case, because there is probably a great deal of
control exercised over the kinds of equipment used. Hence most choices will
be dictated by company standards already in place.

i.e.: jpeg over gif;

JPEG for scanned photographs, GIF for computer-generated graphs and charts.

HTML 3.2 over Frontpage 97 or HTML 2.0;

FrontPage if the designated browser is Explorer, otherwise stick to
whatever standard is followed by the already-selected browser.
