TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Look, I think we're shooting our "collective selves" in the foot by
openly bashing job posters here. While someone's experience with a
particular firm may be poor, the fact of the matter is that other people
may have great success with the same firm.
In our chapter, we're trying to work very hard to get our
vendors/consumers of Technical Communications Services, good..bad..
whatever... to list with us first. By bashing any of them, we lose
credibility not because we could be right/wrong, but because everyone
can find fault with someone.
This is the most disturbing trend/thread I've seen on this list since I
joined it in the beginning. I hope we can find other topics to talk
about... really soon.
My final thought on this... If someone solicits opinions/experiences
about a certain company, then its okay if you respond to them by sharing
your experiences and/or opinions of that company to the list with the
clear caveat that this is YOUR opinion or YOUR experience. However the
random painting of a company like the post a little while ago smacks of
slander, and is detrimental to the goals of the STC.
Eric, please chime in and set this straight before we hurt ourselves!
Sincerely,
--
