In a message dated 97-05-03 11:15:06 EDT, Maury writes about some contracting
experiences:
<< * The company who is so enthralled with the contractor that it keeps
piling
more and more tasks on the contractor but doesn't pay until "all work is
finished," even though the additional tasks were not part of the original
contract.
* The client who, ...proceeds to keep the
contractor jumping through an endless series of fiery hoops, ...in
order to delay payment indefinitely, >>
That's why you charge by the hour, and write a status report and invoice
weekly.
The status report documents what you have accomplished and what you plan to
do in the upcoming week. The invoice is payable within 10 days, if possible,
30 at most.
No pay, no work.
Cheers Ann
