Thanks to everyone who replied to my original message. Unfortunately, I
can't go over the editor's head because he owns the publishing company. I
suppose I'm in a no-win situation: if he prints a retraction, nobody will
see it, as someone remarked, but if they *do* see it it will probably just
draw their attention to something they missed the first time around!
I suppose I'll just have to put it down to experience and not write for this
magazine again.
