I just thought I would pass along a little hard-earned learning from
last week. I was using HTML Transit on a Word file, translating it
many times. At one point, I changed the word file by adding many
cross-references in a table. After this, HTML Transit started choking
on the file. It would struggle, struggle, struggle. Then a GPF (my
first GPF on my new NT machine). After trying many things, I called
the transit tech help number. The problem was "fast saves". Transit
can choke on fast-saved files when there is too much "junk" in them,
in the header. I had just gotten the new machine with the software
already loaded and hadn't yet remembered to check some of the defaults
that I normally change.
Just thought I would pass along this new reason to turn off fast
saves.
