I do not update my equipment until I feel I need to NOW.

So if you updated i half a year ago without a real need you might find that
 you have to do it again or payed to much for the components you did not need
 until now.

But the things look different for people who cannot help themselves - either
 because they depend on company guidelines or do not intend to open their
 machines by themselves.
